About the Tour
With a team of knowledgeable and friendly tour guides, our interactive school group tour is perfect for getting kids out of the classroom and engaged in the real history of Canterbury and England.
During the 45-minute tour, our guides get the kids involved in acting out and retelling the history of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Thomas Becket’s famous murder in the Cathedral, as well as the tale of Henry VIII and his six wives!
With a great sense of humour, patience, and passion, our tour is a fantastic way to get your students practicing their English and giving them a unique insight into English culture and history.
Please email firstname.lastname@example.org to book a tour for a school group. Minimum 11 children. One teacher/group leader/supervisor per boat goes free of charge.
If you are a group of 12 or more people, please book in advance so that we can reserve the necessary amount of boats. Our boats can seat up to 12 people, so we may have to split your group across several boats, if required.
Please remember to arrive 15 minutes before your tour is scheduled to depart so that we have time to organise the boats and ensure your time with us is as smooth and as relaxed as possible. Our tours last 45 minutes, so please allow an hour’s slot of your schedule for our tour.
Please note that due to the current pandemic we are unable to offer group tours at present. We will offer them again as soon as the Government’s guidance permits their safe operation.

Enjoyable time on the river
Matthew was our guide, rowing our boat along under the bridges and still giving us a fascinating, animated and enjoyable narrative of the turbulent history of this part of the river in Canterbury. I would love to hear him do a tour based on Christopher Marlowe!Date of experience August 2019
We very much enjoyed our tour with Rob. During the 45mins he explained very interesting facts about Canterbury's and Englands history. His sense of humour and the beautiful view from the boat added to a lovely experience!Date of experience September 2019
There were 8 of us from work and our guide was Jacob very funny and entertaining. The ride down the river was really relaxing and a great way of seeing a bit of the city. Getting in and out of the boat was quite entertaining too but we all loved it, great experience highly recommended.Date of experience October 2019
We thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Hunter. He is a fabulous captain and excellent at giving historic information all whilst being comedic. We learned a lot of interesting historic facts and the scenery was lovely. A must visit!Date of experience October 2019
