Canterbury Historic River Tours 75th Anniversary

Unveiling the statue on the river

In 2008 Canterbury Historic River Tours was proud to celebrate its 75th anniversary. To commemorate the event, Artist and former boatman and guide Ben Kidger was commissioned to create a sculpture for the river which was unveiled during the tour by The Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Councillor Carolyn Parry and blessed by the Dean of Canterbury Cathedral the Very Revd Robert Willis. Friends and honoured guests from the city of Canterbury were welcomed aboard the tour following the reading of a poem by Clifford Wheeler, written 75 years previously for the first river tour departure from the Black Friars Monastery.
